چکیده
In this paper, precipitation rate retrieval algorithms for the Global Precipitation Measurement mission's Dual-frequency Radar (DPR) are developed. The DPR consists of a Ku-band radar (KuPR; 13.6 GHz) and Ka-band (KaPR; 35.5 GHz). For KuPR, an algorithm similar to Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission's is developed, with relation between R massweighted mean diameter Dm (R?Dm relation) replacing specific attenuation k effective reflectivity factor Ze. R?Dm can also be applied KaPR dual-frequency algorithms. both single-frequency algorithms, forward method assumed adjustment (?) results evaluated select best value ?. advantages availability surface reference technique ZfKa method, which use attenuation-corrected Zf KaPR, ? as well possibility selectively measurements from KuPR or KaPR. This paper describes derivation scattering table procedure non-uniform beam filling correction in detail. outputs then statistically analyzed demonstrate performance.

متن کاملGlobal Precipitation Mission (GPM) and Dual-Wavelength Radar (DPR)
Global precipitation measurement is essential not only for the research of the global change but also for the water resources management. Currently, satellite precipitation measurement is not sufficient for the detailed study of the precipitation and is far from enough for the water resources management which requires very high spatial and temporal resolution. To fill the gap at least partly, t...

This paper illustrates how multiple scattering signatures affect Global Precipitation Measuring (GPM) Mission Dual-Frequency Precipitation Radar (DPR) Ku and Ka band reflectivity measurements and how they are consistent with prelaunch assessments based on theoretical considerations and confirmed by airborne observations. In particular, in the presence of deep convection, certain characteristics...
متن کاملVariable pulse repetition frequency for the GPM dual-frequency radar
In space missions, the delay of a receiving signal to a transmission signal generally spans a few thousands microseconds due to long range observation. An efficient sampling can be achieved by transmitting pulses successively, as schematically shown in Fig. 1. For the later consideration, a catching integer n is to be introduced. In Fig. 1, the catching integer n is set at 11, for which a pulse...
